Distance education is a relatively new form of learning, and its development is directly linked to the advancement of IT technologies. This study aimed to
explore the possibilities of distance medical education in crises. To achieve this goal, it was established that this form of education in unstable life conditions was able to ensure the continuation of the educational process during the COVID‐19 pandemic and remains effective even during full‐scale invasions. During the research, the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning were identified. It was found that this form of education disciplines students and catalyzes their self‐development, but it may not be suitable for unmotivated and disorganized students. However, in the context of this study, it was crucial to highlight the possibilities of distance education specifically for students of medical institutions, as practical sessions are essential for this profession in addition to theoretical knowledge. It was discovered that practical skills for medical students can be acquired through online simulators that create artificial clinical situations for students to solve. In the absence of such simulators, this format is possible through discussions with the instructor, who can design situational tasks for collective discussion during online sessions. Additionally, it was found that modern digital advancements allow students to have simulation learning tools in their pockets, for example, mobile applications that enable the study of anatomy. Furthermore, it was observed that the format of simulation‐based learning, such as virtual reality, is currently being actively implemented. However, it is understood that virtual reality resources are costly and not readily available to a wide range of users. Overall, distance education in the context of full‐scale invasions is essential and irreplaceable. It is the only form of education that enables the continuation of learning in crises. However, its organization, creativity, and progressiveness are directly linked to the managerial decisions of educational institution leaders and the material‐technical base available.
